The organic watermelon we grow is a mini variety, weighing between 3 and 4 kilos, with a crunchy red and very sweet flesh.
We do not use any pesticides or chemical fertilisers, they are completely natural as our grandparents used to grow them in the past. They retain all their organoleptic properties and vitamins.
In our area of Valencia it is normal for many farmers to grow watermelons in summer, because it is a fruit that is easy to produce outdoors and does not need a lot of care.
The only thing is that it needs a lot of water, the climate we have here is special for growing watermelons in summer.
Unfortunately, many farmers are already giving up watermelons because of the low prices.
Many people are changing their habits and are buying more and more fruit in large supermarkets. Normally they don’t buy from the farmer, they go through intermediaries or bring the watermelons from other countries and the local farmers can’t sell their harvest and stop growing.
The organic melons are the piel de sapo variety, which is called here an old, very sweet, indigenous variety. They are usually between 3 or 4 kilos in size and are organically grown melons without chemicals.
Melons are also a very easy crop to grow outdoors in summer, we grow them naturally in an organic way.
