The Hass variety, once the season is over in spring with the warm weather
is when we start harvesting the Reed avocado, which is the only national avocado that is produced at this time of year, but it is still not very abundant.

The Reed avocado is a green-skinned avocado. When ripe, the skin remains green, unlike the Hass, which darkens as it ripens. Its flesh is buttery and has a very good flavour and a mild aroma. The stone is small and easy to remove.

The green meat of the avocado darkens quickly as soon as you cut the fruit. Protect the pieces of avocado that you do not want to use immediately with plastic wrap and keep them fresh. You can also sprinkle lemon juice on the half that is not used to prevent further oxidation.
